Celebrate Vaikuntha Ekadashi on December 25, 2020
Vaikuntha Ekadashi of Margashiramaasa Shuklapaksham occurring on December 25, 2020 is a very important celebration for the devout Hindus of India. They visit Vishnu temples and pass through the Vaikuntha Dwaram (Vaikunth Dwar) on the day of Vaikuntha Yekadashi seeking the grace and benevolence of Lord Srimannarayana.
According to Puranas, Lord Vishnu created a female form and called her Ekadashi in order to kill a demon Murasur. Lord Vishnu blessed Ekadashi with a boon that anyone keeping a fast on the day of Ekadashi and offering Pujas to him gets Salvation and attains Vaikuntha, the lord’s abode.

Ekadashi and its importance:
Ekadashi or the eleventh day occurs twice a month in the Hindu calendar and in a year 24 days are observed as Ekadashi. This is considered a day to cleanse the body, aid repair and rejuvenation and is usually observed by partial or complete fast. This period of abstinence starts from sunrise on the day of Ekadashi to sunrise on the following day. Those who fast on this day are said to rid of malefic planetary influences, experience happiness, and gain peace of mind and attain Molsha (the Salvation). Ekadashi Vrat is also known as Vrat-Trayam.
