Navratri Special Nava Durga Homam (Yagam/Havan) is a sacred fire ritual dedicated to the ‘Nine Avatars of Durga’. This fire Ritual is performed during the auspicious occasion of Sharannavaratri to seek blessings, protection, and empowerment from these divine manifestations. It is performed to invoke the blessings of the goddess and seek her protection, strength and guidance.

Bright fortnight of Ashvayujamaas beginning from 3rd October, 2024 is a very colorful festival season all over India. These fifteen days of the beginning of Sharadrutu are celebrated with various regional flavour. As the crops near the season of harvesting during Sharadrutu, all the devout Hindus, celebrate this season with a lot of Puja-Vrat, Havan-Homas and festivals. Dusshera or Dasara, Navaratri or Sharannavaratri, Garba Dandiya, Durga Pujo, Kullu-Dussera, Ram Leela, the different names to the Navaratri festivals are many. PurePrayer presents the different parts of Sharannavaratri Celebrations beginning from October 03 to Oct 12, 2024.

Goddess Durga is the central deity of the Navratri’s, or nine nights. Her different manifestations as Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayini, Kaalaratri, and Siddhidatri are invoked, and offered Pujas on different nights of the Sharannavaratri or Dusshera festival. Chandi or Durga is the fierce aspect of the Mother Goddess, who destroys Asuras, Rakshasas, negativities, and weaknesses from the universe. She is the protector of the righteous and the destroyer of the unrighteous, and takes one to the ultimate goal of Moksha or salvation, by helping each individual to fight and defeat the inner negative forces.

Kumbakonam – Ancient Kshetra with Divine Vibrations

The Temple town of Kumbakonam Sri Kshetra and its neighbouring villages on the banks of River Kaveri, are world famous for its many ancient temples that were built even before the world developed any civilization. Kumbakonam is best known for its Navagraha Sthalams and more than a hundred temples dedicated to many deities mentioned in the Hindu Puranas and other Dharma Granthas.

Kasi Viswanathar Temple, Aaduthurai, Kumbakonam

Kasi Viswanathar Temple, Aaduthurai, Kumbakonam is located right on the banks of Kaveri. This Ghat is known as Sandhyavandana Padithurai. It is called so, because Lord Shree Rama, while going to Sri Lanka, halted here one evening to perform Sandhyavandana ritual in the Kaveri. Lord Rama also performed Pratishthana of Kashi Vishwanatha Shiva Lingam here, in memory of his ancestors. Hence this temple is part of the Ramayana Purana.

Ashta Bhuja Durga Devi – Showing Devotees, the Eight Fold Path to Dharma and Salvation

Ashta Bhuja Durga Devi in this temple is very special. It is a beautiful idol that was installed and consecrated under the guidance of Sri Sri Sri Chandrashekharendra Saraswati Swami of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, well known as ‘Maha Periyava’. Maha Puja will be performed to this all powerful Ashta Bhuja Durga on all ten days of Navaratri.
