Bhagavathi Puja worship has been an age old practice prescribed in Shakteya Principle. This is also called Durga Namaskaram in Southern India.

Goddess Durga symbolizes the divine forces (positive energy) known as divine shakti that is used against the negative forces of evil and wickedness. Padmam drawing requires a lot of diligence and represents nature in its five elements. Ashtottaram, Sahasranamam, Devi Mahatmyam are chanted.
