Devipattinam is an ancient coastal town and a port, about 15km from Ramanathapuram, in the southern part of Tamil Nadu. It was a flourishing sea port and a gateway to places as far as Madurai until the early 20th century. Devipattinam is famous for the ‘Navagrahas’ locally called as ‘Navapashanam’, believed to have been installed by Lord Rama.

An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Parvati, is known as ‘Tilakeswarar Temple’ and it is here the Navagrahas have been installed in the sea. Goddess Parvati in this temple is known as ‘Soundaryanayaki Devi’.
Devotees perform many Puja-Homa-Pariharas in Devipattinam Kshetra. Navagraha Homa, Tila Homa, Santana Gopala Homa, Swayamvara Parvati Homa are some of the most sought after Pariharas.

They offer oblations to their Pitrus (forefathers) and perform many religious rites such as ‘Tila Homa’ near this Navagraha temple.
