Why Shani Pradosham is Special?

Shani Pradosham is an auspicious day dedicated to Lord Shani (Saturn), which falls on the 13^th day (Trayodashi) of the lunar fortnight. Pradosham is a significant time period of approximately 1.5 hours, occurring in the evening, during which devotees worship Lord Shiva and seek his blessings for the removal of obstacles and negative influences in their lives.

During Shani Pradosham, devotees observe fasts, perform special rituals, chant mantras, and offer prayers to Lord Shiva and Lord Shani to seek their grace and blessings. It is believed that observing Shani Pradosham can help mitigate the ill effects of Saturn and bring positive changes in one’s life.

It is the custom to visit Shiva temples or Shani temples on Shani Pradosham days and participate in the rituals and worship conducted during that time. Devotees often recite prayers, perform abhishekam (ritualistic bathing of the deity), offer flowers, fruits, and sacred ash, and engage in deep meditation to connect with divine energy.

Importance of Shani Graha

Shani is one of the children of Surya (Lord Sun) and Chaya Devi. Shani Jayanti is observed on Amavasya Tithi during Jyeshtha month as per Purnimant Panchangam (Hindu Calendar).
